What are Integrative Somatics?

Integrative Somatic sessions are a blend of body based modalities to help restore balance in your body and mind, as well as in your life. During a session, expect to learn about your unique nervous system, while easing physical and emotional tension.

The sessions will vary based on your needs, but you can expect to : practice somatic therapy techniques, work with the physical body using meridian and fascial pathways for emotional balance, explore movement to continue out the stress cycle, pranayama (breath work), and explore body based meditation - all while creating new pathways to uncover deeper connections, resiliency, and experience more peace, joy + ease in your life!

Together, we will develop skills to strengthen your connection to your body + intuition, unravel old nervous system patterns and rewire subconscious beliefs by attuning to the body’s innate wisdom.

Sessions are available in person at The Soma Sanctuary in Virginia Beach, or from the comfort of your home via Zoom.

In Greek, the word soma evolved to mean “the living body in its wholeness”. The soma arose as a system that always strives to achieve stability and balance - a test that takes place in time and is never complete. The soma is not a thing or objective body but, rather, is a process. It is changeable and supple and is constantly adapting to it’s environment.

The soma is not an object, it is a process. In the same way, life is not a “what” but a “how”. To understand the soma and its process is to understand the how of life. - Thomas Hana “The Body of Life”

Rather than an action, the soma represents a process. A process of understanding the nature of what it means to be human means to be ever changing. This process is a practice of homecoming, a reclamation, and of compassion. Understanding and attuning to the soma is one of the greatest support systems for the ever evolving human experience. - Lora
